Motorized vehicle brakes employing pads (16', 16''), rotors (10'), and/or stators (20) exhibiting a higher temperature and wear resistance than currently available brake parts. These pads (16', 16''), rotors (10') and stators (20) are preferably made of a structural fiber reinforced ceramic matrix composite material adapted for high temperature and wear resistance by the addition of an erosion-resistant/friction-inducing material either on the braking surfaces of these parts, or disposed within the composite material itself. Also disclosed is a method of integrally molding brake pads (16'') to the surfaces of metal brake parts.

Freins pour véhicules à moteur, équipés de plaquettes (16', 16''), de rotors (10') et/ou de stators (20) faisant preuve d'une meilleure résistance à la température et à l'usure que les pièces de frein actuellement disponibles. Ces plaquettes (16', 16''), rotors (10') et stators (20) sont constitués de préférence d'un matériau composite à matrice céramique à structure renforcée par des fibres, résistant aux températures élevées et à l'usure grâce à l'adjonction d'un matériau de friction résistant à l'érosion, qui peut être appliqué sur les surfaces de freinage de ces pièces ou inclus dans le matériau composite lui-même. Un procédé pour mouler directement les plaquettes de frein (16'') sur les surfaces métalliques du frein est également décrit.
