ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A brake shoe for a drum brake assembly such as those used in bus and truck applications comprising a brake pad assembly having at least one pad element having a continuous external surface, a mechanism for positioning said pad element relative to the brake drum of the drum brake assembly and a mechanism for securing the brake pad assembly to the positioning mechanism, the securing mechanism including an alignment mechanism to align the brake pad assembly and thereby the brake pad to the positioning assembly.
