ABSTRACT An improved brake shoe for a brake assembly including a brake spider, a pair of anchor pins and a camshaft mounted on the spider, a retainer for holding lower portions of the shoe and a similar shoe on the anchor pins, and a retracting spring for biasing the shoes to retracted positions when mounted on the anchor pins is disclosed. The shoe comprises a pair of rib sections mounting a table section and at least one lining element mounted on the table section. The rib sections have bearing surfaces engageable with one of the anchor pins when the shoe is mounted on the anchor pin and notched portions for receiving a section of the retainer. The improved shoe simplifies and speeds up the repair procedure for the brake assembly.
