A cable brake system for in-line roller skates of the type having a wheel support on the bottom of a skate boot and a set of longitudinally aligned roller wheels rotatably mounted, via axles, on the support. The system has a brake pad located between two adjacent wheels and below their axles. An actuator accessible to the hands of a skater can move the brake pad from a lower, inoperative position to a raised operative position where it contacts both wheels to brake the skate. The actuator can comprise a hinged glove, which when hinged by gripping the fingers, moves a cable connected to the brake pad to move the pad. The actuator could also comprise a housing adapted to be mounted on the skater's belt with a lever on the housing connected via a cable to the brake pad.
La présente invention vise un système de frein à câbles pour patins à roues alignées du type composé d'un support de roues au fond d'une chaussure de patin et d'une série de roues alignées sur le plan longitudinal et montées sur le support de manière à tourner sur des essieux. Le système se compose d'un coussinet du frein monté sous les essieux de deux roues contiguës. Un mécanisme de commande que le patineur peut régler manuellement permet de déplacer le coussinet de frein d'une position basse, hors fonction, à une position élevée, opérationnelle, où il entre en contact avec les deux roues pour assurer le freinage. Le mécanisme de commande peut se composer d'une fourchette articulée qui entraîne, lorsque ses doigts sont assujettis, le déplacement du câble relié au coussinet de freinage. Le mécanisme de commande peut également être constitué d'un boîtier que le patineur fixe à sa ceinture et qui règle le mouvement du coussinet de frein au moyen d'un câble.
