A brake torque plate (14) and an installation method for fixedly attaching the plate (14) to an axle tube (11), includes the plate (14) formed with an opening (24) and a continuous cut (25) extending between the plate (14) peripheral edge (23) and the opening (24), wherein the diameter of the opening (24) is smaller than that of the axle tube (11). The cut (25) enables the torque plate (14) to be temporarily expanded for installation on the axle tube (11) by spreading means (26) until the bore diameter is larger than that of the axle tube (11). Upon mounting of the torque plate (14) on the axle tube (11), the spreading means (26) is removed to reduce the diameter of the opening (24), thereby creating an interference fit between the torque plate (14) and the axle tube (11) and minimizing or eliminating the gap between the plate opening (24) and the axle tube to ensure perpendicularity between the axle tube (11) center line and the torque plate inboard (22) and outboard faces (21).

L'invention concerne une plaque de couple de freinage et un procédé d'installation permettant de rattacher fixement la plaque à un tube d'essieu, ladite plaque comprenant une ouverture et une fente continue s'étendant entre le bord périphérique de la plaque et l'ouverture, le diamètre de l'ouverture étant plus petit que celui du tube d'essieu. La fente permet à la plaque de couple d'être temporairement agrandie pour être installée sur le tube d'essieu par un moyen d'écartement jusqu'à ce que le diamètre de l'alésage soit plus grand que celui du tube d'essieu. Lors du montage de la plaque de couple sur le tube d'essieu, le moyen d'écartement est retiré pour réduire le diamètre de l'ouverture, créant ainsi une interférence adaptée entre la plaque de couple et le tube d'essieu, et minimisant ou éliminant l'espace entre l'ouverture de la plaque et le tube d'essieu afin de garantir la perpendicularité entre la ligne centrale du tube d'essieu et les surfaces interieure et extérieure de la plaque de couple.
