The invention relates to a braking device for wheeled chairs, the device (1) including at least two brake legs (2, 3) which can be lowered to, or raised from a substructure while being positionally movement-oriented with the aid of tubular members (4, 5) fixed to the chair frame, these vertical leg movements being actuable via urging means (6, 7) situated above the respective brake leg, the means performing a turning movement with the aid of a shaft (8), to which they are fixed, this movement resulting in one direction in arresting the chair moving the legs (2, 3) downwards into their braking position, and in the opposite direction in upward movement of the legs into their inactive position. The urging means comprise cams (9; 10) having their turning axis (11) coincident with the longitudinal axis of the shaft (8) to which they are fixed, their profiles (12; 13) having an elongate S-shape, and coact with the upper parts (16, 17) of the legs for obtaining maximum lifting height of the leg free ends (14, 15) from the substructure.

L'inventon concerne un dispositif de freinage (1) pour fauteuil roulant, comprenant au moins deux jambes de freinage (2, 3) qui peuvent être abaissées ou montées par rapport à une sous-structure, tout en étant guidées dans leur mouvement par des éléments tubulaires (4, 5) fixés au cadre de la chaise, ces mouvements verticaux des jambes étant provoqués par des moyens de sollicitation (6, 7) situés au-dessus des jambes de freinage respectives, les moyens en question effectuant un mouvement de rotation grâce à un arbre (8) auquel ils sont fixés, ce mouvement dans une direction assurant l'arrêt de la chaise grâce au mouvement descendant des jambes (2, 3) vers leur position de freinage et le mouvement dans la direction opposée provoquant un mouvement ascendant des jambes vers leur position inactive. Le moyen de sollicitation comprend des cames (9; 10) dont l'axe de rotation (11) coïncide avec l'axe longitudinal de l'arbre (8) auquel elles sont fixées, les profils (12; 13) de ces cames ayant la forme d'un S allongé, et coopère avec les parties supérieures (16, 17) des jambes pour soulever au maximum les extrémités libres (14, 15) des jambes.
