BRAKING SYSTEM IN A RAILWAY CAR Abstract of the Disclosure A braking system for a railway car with a pair of side frames for receiving two axles is disclosed wherein two disc brakes are connected to each of the two axles. The braking system includes two actuators for engaging the disc brakes and each of the actuators are disposed on opposite sides of the axles in a staggered relationship in order to provide open areas between the axles and a centrally disposed transverse connecting member of the railway car. The braking system is thereby provided with improved access for its maintenance.
