ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus and process are disclosed for increasing the quantity of heat exchange possible between the temperature overlap portions of a generator and an absorber in an absorption cycle compressor or heat pump. Referring to figure 1, the heat duty of Generator-Absorber Heat Exchange (GAX) absorber is increased and the heat duty of GAX desorber is decreased by branching sorbent flow from absorber, and circulating the branch flow by pump to externally-heated desorber.
