A branched alcohol composition comprising a branched ether primary alcohol represented by the formula (I) wherein R1 represents hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl radical having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms, R2 represents a hydrocarbyl radical having from 1 to 7 carbon atoms, x is a number ranging from 0 to 16, wherein the total number of carbon atoms in the alcohol ranges from 9 to 24; and alkyl ether sulphate, alcohol alkoxysulphate and alkanol alkoxylate derivatives thereof, which are useful in detergent compositions.

L'invention concerne une composition d'alcool primaire ramifié contenant un alcool primaire d'éther ramifié représenté par la formule (I) dans laquelle R1 représente hydrogène ou un radical hydrocarbyle contenant 1 à 3 atomes de carbone, R2 représente un radical d'hydrocarbyle contenant 1 à 7 atomes de carbone, x valant de 0 à 16 et le nombre total d'atomes de carbone présents dans l'alcool vaut de 9 à 24 ; et un sulfate d'alkyléther, des dérivés d'alkoxylate alkanol et d'alkoxysulfate, utiles dans les compositions pour détergents.
