With a copper-colored coating with a color-producing nitride layer for fixtures, fittings or articles of everyday use, the nitride layer is a zirconium nitride layer that is powder-deposited directly onto the substrate or a primer layer covering the substrate, preferably a zirconium layer, using an argon-nitrogen mixture as intermediate layer, where a transparent oxide hard material layer, preferably a zirconium oxide layer, is powder-deposited onto the intermediate layer as a top layer using an oxygen-argon mixture for purposes of corrosion protection.
