ABSTRACT BRAZING METHOD Some brazing operations utilize brazing temperatues at which rapid grain growth can occur in the material being brazed. This is particularly true in the case of brazing zirconium ele- ments together with beryllium-zirconium eutectic produced from beryllium coating on the zirconium. It is proposed to use a two step process in the brazing cycle, initially holding the assembly at a temperature below the .alpha.+.beta./.beta. transus temperature in order to obtain a relatively uniform temperature for all the components and then rapidly cycling components above the eutectic formation temperature and down again before substantial grain growth occurs.
