A bread crumb making machine in which a rotatable drum is mounted inside a housing, and the drum carries teeth which pass through slots of a rake secured parallel to the drum in the housing. Rotation of the drum forces the teeth to carve out bread crumbs from bread dropped onto the drum, which drop into an unloader below the drum. The teeth are arranged on the drum to pass one or a few at a time through the slots. An unloader sorts the bread crumbs into different sizes, and a feeder has a plate extending across an opening into the housing to prevent bread crumbs exiting through the feeder.
