A bread slicing apparatus comprised of two columnar members affixed near one edge of a horizontal, cutting surface member. The side of each columnar member facing towards the bread forms half of a two-point knife guide that enables the user to precisely guide a knife through a vertical plane. The two columnar members also provide side fixation means for a vertical abutment surface member that restrains the end of the loaf with respect to the knife's cutting plane. A series of vertical grooves in the opposing sides of the two columnar members loosely affix both side edges of the vertical abutment surface member, thereby enabling it to be extracted from the top and re-inserted into any pair of slots. Re-positioning the vertical abutment surface member adjusts the distance between the end of the loaf and the cutting plane defined by the knife guide surfaces, thereby adjusting the thickness of slice.
Appareil pour trancher le pain comprenant deux éléments en colonne posés près d'un bord d'un élément horizontal à surface coupante. Le côté de chaque élément en colonne faisant face au pain forme la moitié d'un guide-couteau à deux points qui permet à l'utilisateur de guider un couteau avec précision dans un plan vertical. Les deux éléments en colonne présentent aussi un moyen de fixation latéral pour un élément à surface d'aboutement verticale qui retient le bout du pain en fonction du plan de coupe du couteau. Une série de rainures verticales sur les côtés opposés des deux éléments en colonne se collent lâchement contre les deux bords latéraux de l'élément à surface d'aboutement verticale, ce qui permet de l'enlever par le dessus et de le réintroduire dans toute paire de fentes. Le repositionnement de l'élément à surface d'aboutement verticale permet d'ajuster la distance entre le bout du pain et le plan de coupe défini par les surfaces du guide-couteau et ainsi d'ajuster l'épaisseur de la tranche.
