It is desirable to have a lure saving device that is more versatile, less costly, and more reliable in performing its function as a lure saving device. The present invention, entitled "Break-Away Lure Saver" is a lure saver that encompasses these desirable qualities, and relates to common lure savers only in what it is intended to do. This invention acts as a replacement hook for lures, and is intended to function as a part of the lure. This lure saving device comprises, ahook, a slip ring, a body disposed between the hook and the slip ring and connected thereto, and a shield surrounding the body. The body of this invention, is rated at variable strengths similar to the way in which fishing lines are rated, and is intended to break apart under a given load, not exceeding that of the fishing line it is intended to be used with. In a snag situation the angler need only pull on his/her fishing line, with sufficient force so that the body of the invention breaks apart and releases the body of the lure. The angler can then retrieve thebody of his/her lure and need only replace what's left of the invention with a new one.
