A break-open game ticket comprises a thin backing layer and a front tab layer. The thin backing layer has a front face and a back face, a display area on the front face of the thin backing layer, and a perimeter area generally surrounding the display area There is at least one image displayed on the display area. The front tab layer has a front face and a back face, and includes a plurality of tabs each having a back end portion secured to the thin backing layer and a movable tab portion defined by a peripheral edge. The backing layer and the front tab layer are secured one to the other at the perimeter areas such that the front face of the thin backing layer and the back face of the front tab layer face each other such that the display area is generally covered by the plurality of tabs. The movable tab portions connect one to another at the peripheral edges to together define a continuous open area for viewing the display area.
