ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A breakaway connection is mounted between a lower and an upper post section for upstandingly supporting the upper section on the lower section. The breakaway connection has a U- shape cross-section with lateral flanges. A weakened linear section extends horizontally on the flanges and partly on the U- shaped portion and is adapted to break upon a lateral impact. The linear section extending downwardly into folds between the flanges and the U-shaped portion of the connection for allowing the upper part of the connection to tilt backwardly while both the upper and lower parts of the connection remain linked together.
