ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A pad for absorbing lacteal fluid is constructed comprising an absorbent central portion, a moisture-impermeable outer portion, and a fluid-transmitting body-contacting portion. Between the body-contacting portion and the absorbent central portion there is positioned a layer of material which has a higher degree of capillary transfer of lacteal fluid than said body-contacting portion, whereby capillary spread of fluid in said body-contacting portion is minimized.
