An apparatus and method for aiding an infant in achieving a proper latch during breastfeeding is provided. The apparatus has a shaft and a narrow blade. The blade is attached to the end of the shaft and has a narrow end surface at the end of the blade. To use the apparatus, a user inserts the end surface of the apparatus between a lip of an infant attempting to breastfeed and a breast. The user continues to insert the end surface until the blade of the apparatus is positioned between the lip of the infant and the breast. The apparatus is then rotated so that the blade presses against the lip of the infant and the end of the blade flips the lip of the infant outward, placing the lip of the infant in a proper latching position.
