A breathable downhole fiber optic cable is provided having an outer protective tube; a fiber optic tube having a plurality of optical fibers contained therein; at least one annulus disposed between the outer protective tube and the fiber optic tube; and at least one path, extending through the length of the fiber optic cable, which provides a channel for a purge gas to flow for removing a second gas, such as hydrogen, from the fiber optic cable.

L'invention concerne un câble à fibres optiques de fond de trou respirable ayant un tube de protection extérieur ; un tube de fibres optiques ayant une pluralité de fibres optiques contenues dans celui-ci ; au moins un espace annulaire disposé entre le tube de protection extérieur et le tube de fibres optiques ; et au moins un trajet, s'étendant à travers la longueur du câble à fibre optique, qui fournit un canal pour qu'un gaz de purge s'écoule pour enlever un second gaz, tel que l'hydrogène, à partir du câble à fibres optiques.
