Protective respirator with a connector housing (1) for mask components, with a mask body (2) that can be joined to the connector housing, said mask body (2) being of elastomer material, a connecting surface that extends peripherally round the connector housing (1) for a profile-reinforced cutout of the mask body that is shaped to match this, and with a connecting device that fixes the cutout on the connecting surface is to be so configured that the connection between mask body (2) and connector housing (1) can be effected in a simple manner. This objective has been achieved in that the connecting surface is in the form of a disk-like edge (5) that extends from the connector housing (1); in that a clamping ring (8) that is shaped to match the edge (5) is provided as the connecting device, this clamping ring having an connecting surface (9) that rests on the edge (5).
