ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A handle or the like of a briefcase is marked with a three-dimensional marking preferably on one side of the grip portion, as a directional orientation as to where the lid of the case is disposed, to prevent undesired opening of the case when it is positioned upside down. The device simplifies the task of directional orientation and is much less expensive than the known mechanisms preventing the manipulation of the locks with the case upside down. The advantage over directional orientation by stickers or the like indicating the top or bottom of the case is in that the present invention, while retaining an extremely low cost of the feature, enables its function in the dark. Also, it enables the recognition of the correct position of the case by a blind person or the like.
