The invention relates to a wide-band communication system, comprising several wireless communication devices (1) for wireless communication with at least one communication terminal (2), e.g. a cordless telephone, a TV set or a laptop computer, within a communication cell. The wireless communication devices (1) can be plugged into the power supply network, for instance, in a building, and are configured for wide-band data transfer to other wireless communication devices (1) and/or a control device (5) via the power supply network. Wireless data transfer between the wireless communication device or base station (1) and the communication terminal (2) is preferably carried out via infrared radiation. The invention enables wide-band wireless data transfer between different terminals (2) or from a terminal to an external communication network with the least possible complications in terms of installation.

L'invention concerne un système de communication à large bande présentant plusieurs unités de communication sans fil (1) pour assurer une communication sans fil avec au moins un terminal de communication (2), par exemple un téléphone sans fil, un téléviseur ou un ordinateur portatif à l'intérieur d'une cellule de communication. Les unités de communication sans fil (1) sont conçues de manière à pouvoir être raccordées au réseau d'alimentation électrique, par exemple d'un bâtiment, et/ou à une unité de commande (5) pour l'échange de données à large bande avec les autres unités de communication sans fil (1) par l'intermédiaire du réseau d'alimentation électrique. La transmission des données sans fil entre les unités de communication sans fil ou la station de base (1) et le terminal de communication (2) s'effectue de préférence par infrarouge.
