DL23,411 BROADBAND SEIZURE FOR CATV TRUNK CABLES by GOPALLKRISHNA GANPATRAO NADKARNI Abstract of Disclosure A tubular extension on a trunk station terminal housing has a cylindrical opening therein that is closed by a coaxial connector plug, the opening receiving one end of a tubular sleeve section on a seizure member whose position is fixed in the housing with the ID and of the sleeve being coaxial with the cylindrical opening. And a ooaxial cable transmission line that is connected to the plug has its inner conductor passed through openings in the plug, extension and sleeve and seized by a clamping screw in the other end of the member, the ID of the sleeve being selected for receiving the inner conductor of the largest coaxial cable with which the trunk station is to operate. The position, OD and length of the sleeve; the ID of the cylindrical opening; and the length that the sleeve extends into the cylindrical opening are selected for making the characteristic impedance of the sleeve portion of the transmission line section approximately equal to that of the coaxial transmission line for causing the return loss looking into the plug to be generally constant over a broad band of frequencies for coaxial cable center conductors of different diameters.
