This invention relates to a thermally stable brominated polystyrene having less than 100 ppm total Cl-, above 68 wt.% bromine and less than 6,000 ppm hydrolyzable halide. The brominated polystyrene exhibits little or no polymer cross-linking or chain cleavage relative to the starting polystyrene.

La présente invention concerne un polystyrène bromé thermiquement stable renfermant moins de 100 ppm de Cl<-> total, plus de 68 % en poids de brome et moins de 6000 ppm d'halogénure hydrolysable. Par rapport au polystyrène de départ, le polystyrène bromé présente peu ou pas de réticulation de polymère ou de clivage de chaîne.
