A removable brush spacer assembly (50) for attachment to the lateral edge of a vacuum cleaner nozzle (14) in order to support an edge brush and to space the brush with respect to a surface is shown and described. The brush spacer assembly (50) incorporates an elongated main body (54) having a base, a plurality of bristles (58) collectively forming an edge brush, and a spacer (56). The brush is attached at one end to the main body (54), with the bristles (58) projecting toward the surface being vacuumed. The spacer (56) is attached to the main body (54) and projects below the base to control the relationship of the brush with respect to the surface.
