A brush conveyor (1), in particular for a velvet needle loom, including an assembly (10) of adjacent brushes forming a conveying plane (P) and moving in a predetermined conveying direction (D). Each brush (11-18) includes a body that is substantially elongated along a main axis (AI), and each lower brush surface comprises means (4) for connecting the brush (11-18) to a mechanical drive device (2, 3, 5), while the upper brush surface has holes (110) for receiving tufts of bristles (120). The brushes (11-18) are arranged within the conveyor (1) in such a way that their main axes (AI) are parallel and lie at predetermined angle (.theta.) to a transverse direction (AT) which is perpendicular to the conveying direction (D). The conveyor may be used in needle looms for making nonwoven articles.
