A brush conveyor (1), in particular for a velvet needle loom, including a set of adjacent brushes (121-181) arranged in transverse rows, means (15, 16, 4, 5, 6) for driving the set of brushes to form, on the upper surface of the conveyor, a conveying plane (P) in a predetermined forward direction (D). Each of the brushes (121-181) includes a body (120, 130) comprising holes in the upper brush surface for receiving tufts of bristles, and means (14) on the lower brush surface for connecting the brush to the drive means (15, 16, 4, 5, 6). The conveyor (1) includes means (S, 7-10) for directly supporting the lower surfaces of the bodies (120, 130) of the brushes (121-181) forming the conveying plane (P). The conveyor may be used in needle looms for making nonwoven articles.
