The brushite cement for surgical purposes comprises a first component comprising a basic calcium phosphate, a second component comprising an acidic phosphate, a third component comprising water, and a fourth component comprising a source of magnesium used to stabilize the end-product of the setting reaction between the components. The solubility of the source of magnesium is smaller than 100 g/L. The components are chosen in such an amount that (i) the pH of the cement paste during setting is lower than 6,0; and (ii) the end-product of the setting reaction comprises dicalcium phosphate dihydrate [CaHPO4.cndot.2H2O].

L'invention concerne un ciment de brushite utilisé à des fins chirurgicales, qui comprend un premier composant renfermant un phosphate de calcium basique, un second composant renfermant un phosphate acide, un troisième composant renfermant de l'eau, et un quatrième composant renfermant une source de magnésium utilisée pour stabiliser le produit final de la réaction de durcissement entre les composants.
