Abstract of the Disclosure In a bucket excavator having a bucket wheel which is driven at a uniform velocity an additional vibratory movement is imparted to the cutting elements of the buckets by means of an eccentric mass vibrator mounted at the centre of the wheel and connected to flexible rods associated with the re- spective buckets. Each flexible rod is a vibratory system vibrating at or near its natural frequency and is caused to act upon its associated cutting element only when the latter is currently operative. In the way the additional vibratory movement is transmitted to the buckets with least complication and minimal energy loss.
