A B S T R A C T A hook type buckle which contains only three parts, namely a hook body, a moulding of resilient plastics material having a cover portion and a latch clip portion, and a belt retaining bar which is suitable for retaining a seat belt. The hook body is generally flat, and contains a seat belt aperture through which a seat belt is fed, over the bar, and back through the aperture. The latch clip portion normally closes the mouth of the hook at one end of the hook body, but includes a finger tab which, when depressed, opens the latch clip to enable the hook to engage an anchor plate. Assembly of the three parts is effected by sliding the moulding over the hook body (with its belt retaining bar), and a barb retains them together.
