ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A buckle is disclosed which comprises a male and a female member releasably engageable therewith. The junction between the male and female members is substantially closed or minimized to prohibit intrusion or accumulation of foreign matters. The male member includes a gripping ear for manipulation by fingers which is located beyond the width of the female member. The advance in the art is in that the buckle can be produced in a simpler and thus less expensive way. It is stronger and its components are protected from penetration of dust and the like particles.
