A buckle assembly (40) adaptable for use with strap portions, and comprising a hooking member (20) and a receiving member (10) is provided. The hooking member (20) and receiving member (10) of the present invention lockingly engage in a tensioned position to provide a secure connection. In an engaged and tensioned position, an interference portion (33) on the hooking member securely retains the hooking member within a slot (29) on the receiving member and prevents premature disengagement of the buckle assembly.
