ABSTRACT A safety belt buckle comprising a housing, said housing formed of at least first, second and third members in contact with one another and secured together with said second member disposed between said first member and said third member, each of said members having at least one opening extending therethrough, at least parts of said openings being in substantial alignment with one another, said second member having a channel extending in- wardly from an edge of said second member for receiving a cooper- ating tongue, movable latching means for engaging said tongue, a portion of said latching means extending in and movable within said openings of at least said second member and said third mem- ber, manually operable actuation means for actuating said latch- ing means, a portion of said actuation means extending in and movable within said opening of at least said first member, said second member having guide means for guiding said tongue into said housing, said guide means for having spaced apart, approximately parallel walls, and connecting means for connecting the housing to a seat belt. The invention provides a low cost laminated buckle assembly which includes guide means for guiding a tongue and thereby eliminates the problem of false latching.
