ABSTRACT The building entrance boot drain is similar in function to a shower-base, but is recessed into the floor inside an entrance to a house or building. An expanded metal grate is supported by the receptacle. At the centre of the base of the receptacle, an opening leads to suitable plumbing fixtures which form a water- trap and thence a drain to the building's water-waste system. Snow and ice, melting off winter boots placed on the building entrance boot drain, forms water which is conveniently drained away into the building's water-waste system.
