Column, beam and cross-bracing building frame structure and methodology. The column features an assembly of plural elongate angle-iron-like components held apart by spacers which establish laterally facing recesses between spaced, confronting legs for receiving the modified, inserted ends of the central webs in beams, and the ends of cross braces. Regions of the end-to-end, vertically- stacked joinder between two columns take the forms of compact, friction-bound splices created through and with the inserted ends of beams' central webs. Columns in a frame can respond to severe loads with a certain amount of beneficial individual load-handling promoted and provided by the plural angle- iron-like components, and with modest, reversible frictionally resisted energy- dissipating longitudinal motions relative to one another. Such loading is also resisted by reversible, frictional relative motion in the splices between beams and columns. Similar friction connections are provided between cross- connected beams.

Structure d'ossature de construction à colonnes, poutres et contreventements, et procédé associé. La colonne comprend un ensemble de plusieurs éléments allongés de type cornière maintenus espacés par des entretoises qui forment des creux dirigés latéralement entre des pieds opposés espacés, ces creux étant destinés à recevoir les extrémités insérées et modifiées de âmes centrales de poutres et les extrémités des contreventements. Des régions de raccord empilées verticalement bout à bout entre deux colonnes forment des jonctions compactes liées par frottement, produites par les extrémités insérées des âmes centrales des poutres. Les colonnes d'une ossature peuvent réagir à des charges importantes avec une certaine portance individuelle avantageuse, favorisée et assurée par les éléments de type cornière, et de modestes déplacements mutuels longitudinaux réversibles, dissipateurs d'énergie et contrés par frottement. La charge est également contrée par le déplacement mutuel par frottement réversible dans les jonctions, entre poutres et colonnes. Des raccords par frottement similaires sont prévus entre des poutres reliées transversalement.
