ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A building unit presents the general shape of a parallelepiped and comprises an horizontal floor, four vertical exterior walls provided with doors and windows, and a roof. The floor, walls and roof of the building unit are framed by a rigid metallic structure constituted by a large, standardized container in which cargo can be packed to facilitate shipping and handling. This metallic structure enables easy transportation of the building unit, even when filled with cargo, using conventional container handling and transport equipments. A plurality of such units can be assembled together to erect a building.
