A heating chamber or low-temperature carbonization drum has an interior receiving bulk material or trash and has a longitudinal axis about which the heating chamber or drum is rotatable. A number of heating tubes through which a heating gas can flow in a given direction, are disposed in the interior of the heating chamber or drum, are oriented approximately parallel to one another, and have an end region as seen in the given flow direc- tion. Turbulators are disposed inside the end region of the heating tubes.
