A conventional bulk storage bag has a pair of sleeves formed on the underside of the bag base each by a fabric strip stitched to the underside along two spaced stitch lines. Within the sleeve is inserted an arch shaped insert member extending along the full length of the sleeve from the front edge to the rear edge of the base. The arch shaped insert has a width so that it cooperates with the sleeve in a structural arrangement to hold an area underneath the arch and above a tension portion of the sleeve open for receiving the fork of a fork lift truck for lifting of the bag.
