A low-density neutral paper that although being bulky, excels in printing adaptability characteristics, such as opacity and opacity after printing, can be provided by using as a filler a <=30 µm average particle precipitated calcium carbonate light/silica complex comprising precipitated calcium carbonate light particles having the surface thereof covered with silica wherein the solid content weight ratio between precipitated calcium carbonate light and silica, precipitated calcium carbonate light/silica, is in the range of 30/70 to 70/30, which precipitated calcium carbonate light/silica complex is produced by neutralizing a mixed solution of precipitated calcium carbonate light and alkali silicate so that the pH value thereof falls within the range of 7 to 9. In particular, by adjusting the filler content in paper to 1 to 25 solid content wt.%, there can be provided a low-density printing paper and an electrophotographic transfer paper excelling in rigidity and adaptability to copying machine. By adjusting the filler content in paper to 0.1 to 25 solid content wt.%, there can be provided a neutral newsprint.
