An apparatus is used for removing solids from liquid material to be poured from a container, e.g., dried paint particles from paint to be poured from a paint pail. The apparatus includes a lid that may be secured to the pail, a bung opening in the lid and a screen assembly secured to the bottom of the lid and extending across the bung opening to screen the solid materials from the paint. The preferred screen is a double screen with a coarse outer screen and a finer inner screen. It is also preferred that the lid be equipped with an air hole to facilitate pouring of the paint.
