ABSTRACT This invention is directed to a buoy for indicating the location of an underwater object, and in particular a submerged boat anchor. A spherical buoy housing a spring actuated axle and reel mechanism connected to a nylon line is attached by means of an external clasp to a boat anchor prior to setting. As the anchor is submerged the buoy remains afloat according to the principle of buoyancy. The nylon line is payed out from the reel as the anchor is lowered. The buoy remains afloat in a collinear system with the anchor, marking the anchor, and resisting lateral movement which may be caused by wave or wind action. The tension incurred to the nylon line by the spring force is such that lateral movement of the buoy is restricted while vertical movement is permitted, thus allowing the buoy to remain above the anchor during wave, tidal, or other water level changes or conditions.
