A buoyancy motor is described which includes a liquid filled housing and a rotational member rotatably mounted within the housing for rotation about a substantially horizontal rotational axis. A first fixed compression member is positioned at a first end and a second fixed compression member is positioned at a second end of the rotational member. A movable compression assembly is provided which includes a first movable compression member and a second movable compression member. A first gas bag is disposed between the first fixed compression member and the first movable compression member. A second gas bag is disposed between the second fixed compression member and the second movable compression member. The gas bags are connected by conduit with the flow controlled by one way valves. When the gas bags near a lower surface of the housing is inflated with gas, it rises through the liquid to the top of the housing. At least one lever is provided to force gas from the gas bag near the top of the housing through one of the conduit and into the gas bag near the lower surface of the housing. The continuous rising of the lower gas bag and gas transference from the upper gas bag to the lower gas bag creates a buoyancy cycle.
