BURGLAR ALARM APPARATUS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A burglar alarm apparatus is provided parti- cularly for use with objects carried externally of a ve- hicle which objects are accessible for unauthorized re- moval. The apparatus comprises an electrically conductive cable extending from a control device mounted preferably in the trunk of the vehicle so as to be inaccessible to unauthorized persons. The control device includes a detector for detecting any change in the electrical con- duction characteristics of the cable which may be caused by a break in the cable or by a short circuit between in- ner and outer elements of the cable. The cable includes a wound spring steel protective layer and carries two jack plugs for connection to the control device. A pulsed signal is issued by the control device to the vehicle horn relay upon any detected change. The control device may also detect unauthorized opening of the vehicle doors by a connection to the internal door switch circuitry.
