Burner for a gaseous fuel, provided with separate supply lines for fuel and oxidizing gas, the oxiding gas being tangentially fed into a cylindrical swirl chamber , which is connected to a burner bowl through a mixing channel, the fuel being radially supplied at the connection of the swirl chamber to the mixing channel, optionally provided with an integrated heat exchanger and a composite burner system made up of burners as described above and optionally provided with a plate which isolates the burners from the surrounding area and which indirectly heats the surrounding area.
