91/045 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A burner which feature an internal premixing zone is used for operating an internal combustion engine, a combustion chamber of a gas turbine group or firing equipment. The burner itself consists of at least two hollow partial conical bodies (1, 2) located one upon the other in the flow direction and with their longitu- dinal axes of symmetry (1b, 2b) offset radially rela- tive to one another. These create tangential air inlet slots (19, 20) with opposite flow directions for a com- bustion air flow (15) into the internal space of the burner, which has the shape of a hollow conical space (14). A nozzle (3) by means of which a gaseous fuel (12) is prepared acts within the hollow conical space (14). In the region of the nozzle (3), the tangential air inlet slots (19, 20) are closed by plugs (24, 25) which produce a high blow-out limit irrespective of the mass flow of the burner. (Fig. 2)
