Abstract Butadiene polymer compositions are rendered thermally stable by the presence of a phenolic compound (I) represented by the general formula, Image wherein R1 represents a C1-C4 alkyl group, and a sulfur- containing compound (II) represented by the general formula, Image wherein R2 and R3 independently represent a hydrogen atom or a C1-C6 alkyl group, and R4 represents a C3-C18 alkyl group, are incorporated in butadiene polymer, the weight ratio of (I) to (II) being 1 to 0.5-10. Butadiene polymer compositions according to the present invention exhibit improved thermal resistance characteristics, particularly in the present of oxygen, compared conventional butadiene and styrene-butadiene rubbers.
