ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A one-piece cable band fastening device of flexible plastic material which includes a toothed band having spaced teeth on one side thereof and a plug-in type socket at one end thereof. The socket comprises an elastically deformable, oval- shaped frame having a major axis and a minor axis, the frame having an opening therethrough with an entrance, an exit and peripheral wall portions. The band extends from the socket frame in a direction parallel to the minor axis. A latch projects into the opening from a first wall portion of the opening. The width of the frame opening along the major axis is substantially greater than the width of the band, and a second wall portion of the frame opening opposite to the first wall portion is relieved throughout its height intermediate its side extremities by a groove extending substantially parallel to the axis of the opening, whereby the frame may be compressed and deformed by squeezing sides of the frame in the direction of the major axis. The latch projecting into the opening has a hook- shaped portion integral with the first wall portion of the opening and extending obliquely from an edge of the first wall portion adjacent the opening entrance toward the grooved second wall. The latch further has a pair of thin, skin-like portions connecting side edges of the hook-shaped portion of the latch with the first wall portion and providing a resilient spring- like action to the latch. The free end of the latch terminates a predetermined distance from the opening exit which distance is at least equal to the spacing of adjacent teeth on the band. The opening is adapted to receive the tooth band with the latch engaging the toothed band and the band and latch engagement may be released by the squeezing of the frame sides.
