In accordance with a particular embodiment of the present invention, a guardrail system includes at least one cable operable to contain and redirect an errant vehicle. The guardrail system also includes a plurality of guardrail support posts spaced apart in relation to one another. Each support post includes a lower portion, a mid portion, and an upper portion. The lower portion is for installing below grade adjacent the roadway. The mid portion lies substantially adjacent the grade and includes a weakened section operable to weaken the support post about a longitudinal axis. The upper portion is releasably coupled to the at least one cable such that the upper portion is uncoupled from the at least one cable when the support post is displaced.
Dans un mode de réalisation, la présente invention concerne un système de glissière de sécurité comprenant au moins un câble fonctionnant pour contenir et rediriger un véhicule errant. Ce système de glissière de sécurité comprend aussi une pluralité de montants de support de glissière de sécurité espacés entre eux. Chaque montant de support comprend une partie inférieure, une partie intermédiaire et une partie supérieure. La partie inférieure est destinée à être installée au-dessous du niveau du sol à proximité d'une chaussée. La partie intermédiaire est sensiblement contiguë au niveau du sol et comprend une partie affaiblie qui fonctionne pour affaiblir le montant de support sur un axe longitudinal. La partie supérieure est raccordée de manière détachable à au moins un câble de sorte que la partie supérieure ne soit pas raccordée à ce ou à ces câbles lorsque le montant de support est déplacé.
