11 ABSTRACT: An optical fibre cable comprising a cylindrical body and optical fibres which are located, and periodically fixed, in respective grooves, the grooves extending longitudinally in a helical or in a periodically changing manner, along the length of the cylindrical body, and wherein the grooves are either in the surface of the body or in the inner surface of a jacket surrounding the body, said fibres optionally being fixed after every full turn by means of a wire located in a longitudinal groove at cross-over points for the respec- tive cables. the fibres may be periodically fixed by means of a longitudinal extending adhesive strip and the whole assembly may be provided with a layer of wound tape and a jacket.
