An industrial cable conveyor system is described in which the individual transport cars can be coupled to or uncoupled from a circulating conveyor cable. The described conveyor system includes an underground conveyor in which the transport cars run on the ground (or floor) and the conveyor cable is conducted in a ground channel. Cable deflecting wheels, cable support rolls, as well as a drive station are installed in base frames which are disposed in the ground.
